Numerous United Airlines Incidents Experienced Since The Start Of 2024
From a public and media perspective, United Airlines hasn’t been having a great 2024 thus far. Indeed, when examining incidents logged by The Aviation Herald and other sites, the Star Alliance carrier has already experienced a long list of incidents - many of which required diversions. In fact, there were SO many incidents within a short period of time that the FAA decided to review the airline’s operations...

Struggling To Grow? The Fleet Of Philippine Airlines In 2024
Просмотров 15 тыс.7 часов назад
On the surface, not much has changed with the fleet of Philippine Airlines since our last deep dive into this carrier and its collection of aircraft. When we put out a video in October 2022 on this airline, it had 76 aircraft. Now, about one and a half years later, it has 79. Since the last Philippine Airlines fleet examination, we’ve seen the airline log its first post-pandemic profit. No doub...
The Reasons Airlines Might Fly Empty Planes
Просмотров 20 тыс.14 часов назад
A commercial passenger airline's number one commodity is the seats on their planes. While some seats might need to remain unfilled for performance reasons on certain flights, airlines want to fill every seat on every departure with a fare-paying passenger. This desire has even led to the practice of overbooking, with carriers betting on enough no-shows and missed connections to balance things o...
Pratt & Whitney's GTF Engine Problems: US Airlines Could Lose Over $150 Million

Developing new technologies in the pursuit of more efficient or more powerful machines is a challenging process. Aircraft engine makers know this challenge all too well - not only during the development phase, but even months or years after their products enter service. In the case of Pratt & Whitney, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a new directive for its PW1100G engine, w...

From business class cabins that offer double-bed arrangements to fully private suites, Middle Eastern carriers are almost in a league of their own when it comes to quality and comfort. Even their cheapest level of service - econo...

No Way Out: Why Emergency Landings In Fields Often End In Scrapped Aircraft
Просмотров 18 тыс.21 день назад
It's an unfortunate reality of air travel that emergency and crash landings occur from time to time. Fortunately, these are relatively rare when you consider how many flights take place on a daily basis. Nonetheless, for larger aircraft, an unplanned landing anywhere other than an airport usually means the plane will need to be dismantled and scrapped for parts. So why is this the unfortunate r...

The 330 is the sensible choice for medium/long rang. The longevity and maintenance costs are fairly set in stone. This can not be said for the 350, because, we just don't know yet.
It is a short step from incidents to accidents
PAL livery is so outdated already. They should've grab the opportunity to market reemergence of their fleet service with a new logo and livery. Oh well, PAL is PAL, which is why Cebu Pacific is gaining more traction ahead than them...
The 777x could be Boeing's last chance to save themselves.
Comfort and convienece is the reason I prefer ETIHAD foy travel from Europe to India and return.
I think boeing 787-9 is better
Boeing should've just peaked their 737 development at the NG series. Modernizing the 757 would've been their best answer to Airbus' A320neo series.
boeing
Till today, theres no flight found on that viva aerobus. So its not fixed yet?
As a normal line pilot i do on average around 2 to 3 ferry flights a year, flights without fare paying passengers. Some of those will have cabin crew on board, but officially those are passengers (we can carry up to 19 passengers, which does include company personnel, on ferry flights). During the pandemic my company decided not to put the aircraft into long term storage, but rather to keep them parked, ready for an immediate ramp up if needed. However, if parked the aircraft have to be flown once every 28 days. As a result i had to do quite a few traffic patterns under IFR rules to keep those planes airworthy. Both fun and stress, as it actually takes quite a bit of time to wake up a plane from cold, get it ready to fly, and then put it back to sleep afterwards. 15 minutes of flight and over an hour of work for it. Usually had to do it for 2 or 3 planes during a day, and quite often we had to do write ups as well as planes do not like to be on the ground for a long time.
Is there fleet pretty old?
You left out the UA 767 that dragged its tail during take off at IAD on 20 Apr 2024.
One thing to note here is that 90% of them are American companies which have parts and maintenance issues. Boeing, Pratt and Whitney etc.
A lot of these "incidents" are the exact same things happening at every major carrier around the world daily, just receiving more media attention to make them sensational. Not really news- worthy.
It was a big mistake for pal selling 4 a350s from its fleet if they should of just sell the a330s
They could not have sold their a330s at that time, no one wanted them back then.
At least they no longer beat elderly asian doctors...
It would be cool to see this succeed and Airbus even making new A380 Neo planes, but I don't think this will happen. This seems to be one rich guy's delusions.
What about the airbus A220 which uses the same engines?
Like Manufacturer (Boeing) like customer (United) i want to hear what scott kirby has to say for his Airline now.
Are you going to put out the same video with Delta or American to actually making these statistic meaningful?
I counted, there are at least 18 incidents by United so far in 2024
6:22:💀 imagine being in the toilet then realising that the toilet is overflowing
PAL really needs to upgrade its fleet used on its LAX to MNL route. Planes used on this route are so dated with a sub par 2-3-2 seating configuration in business class.
Condor cannot possibly get good efficiency with these non-aerodynamic stripes...
On a related question: How many or what percentage of senior maintenance personnel retired/quit from United during COVID? United's incidents may be a reflection of a "brain drain" within the carrier.
It's hard to make anything of this without knowing what the number of comparable incidents was last year or what it is for an airline relative to its size during a comparable period.
Exactly, although some of these were serious, there needs to be context with Delta and American.
Ryanair put all its eggs in one basket with Boeing. Lucky their only short haul flights, awful dark and dingy aircraft.
AirBus any day. . . . ❤
Opinion: this carrier did not follow recommended procedures for storing aircraft during the pandemic for economic reasons. Now, such aircraft are failing more frequently than other carriers after return to normal duty cycles.
I think United Airlines needs to do more maintaining of their aircraft's !! PREMENTIVE MAINTAINENCE MIGHT BE IN ORDER SOMEBODY IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB!! ONCE AGAIN 90% BOEING AIRPLANES THAT WHY I DON'T FLY BOEING AIRCRAFT !!!!!!
GO AIRBUS!!!!❤
sooo, but it wasn't Boeing problem though... majority was united problem, just cos a landing gear fell of that isn't Boeing problem. if anything its the ground crews problem for not doing their job properly, so it begs the question, WHAT IF THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO AIRBUS AND GROUND SCREWED UP WHILE WORKING ON AN AIRBUS JET??!!
@@fredericmarohn-bh4qr i prefer boeing tbh
@@fredericmarohn-bh4qr except none of these incidents are boeings fault and some of their airbus planes have had problems too
@@animegamingdudeYou can’t reason with such idiots
This is what happens when a company prioritizes DEI over competence.
Looks like their maintenance game is really lacking at the moment!
United's obsession with DEI is just one of their problems. Another is generational. Young people working or flying for an airline do not have the same discipline and attention to detail my generation had. They learned in public school that you do not have to get the right answer to make the honor roll, since close is good enough. That does not work in the aviation business. I was a pilot for United for 29 years, 1986-2015 and in those years, we aspired to excelence in every job position from pilot to mechanic and more. Not happening today.
For the most part, except for hitting the manhole, it seems to be maintenance issues. All pilots landed their planes safely. So maybe United need to update their maintenance procedures and perhaps hire a few more staff if it's a workload issue. Obviously, this is a purely speculative thought process from me and would be willing to be corrected if I'm wrong.
Let's blame the aircraft manufacture. Nothing at all to do with maintenance.
boeing has manufacturing issues only on current planes
well the majority of incidents in this video have been on boeing aircraft. so if it was only in regards with maintainance i would expect roughly equal airbus - boeing incident distro
@@user-gi7vi9gm4t this is just for united. Take a look at all incidents from Boeing and Airbus aircraft from the start of this year till now. You will see they average out
so its the fault of airbus for the engine failure and hydraulics issues on the a320 and its the fault of boeing for a wheel falling off a 777
It seems United Airlines have to go throught this bad luck for this year of 2024.
United get your stuff together
The first suspect would be maintenance. Let's see what the FAA has to say.
Because the woke airlines prioritize DEI over safety
I bet you can’t even define woke
Absolutely Rwandair not later than 2030
I would like to try NYC to MNL soon. I’ve always flown foreign airlines like Delta and United.

Not flying this terrible airline anytime soon
Sorry to say, but PAL is an outright abysmal airline and a straight up embarrassment as the national carrier of our country. I cringe evertime I hear "The Heart of the Filipino" from PAL propaganda. Rickety ancient planes that are about as well equipped as a rotting toilet seat in a Duterte jail cell, an awful and confusing hub in Manila, service delivery & reliability only comparable to the dirtiest & seediest of ultra-low cost carriers, and an inability or lack of ethic of both staff & management to enact positive change for customers. Anyone that actually enjoys the PAL in-flight experience or enjoys being shoved into a hot & noisy mouse maze that is the Manila hub is kidding themselves. Not to mention that PAL flights arent exactly the cheapest in Asia when compared to true budget or ultra low cost carriers. Singapore Airlines & Scoot will remain my choice when commuting home back to the Philippines.
Why all this bad news about United? Why not a positive note about United? Did you know that United may be the world's DEI champion among airlines in 2024, for instance? Since 2021 United has been working hard to achieve this remarkable success. In an official statement on United's website we can read: "Our purpose-driven commitment to DEI is the right thing to do-and it's an essential driver of our growth and sustainable financial success.” Everyone saying they won't fly on United now is therefor racist or a bigot or phobic towards certain minorities, supporter of the patriarchy.
yes but safety of crew and customers is far more important than DEI. safety could be the difference between life and death, whereas DEI not so much
😂
Kinda hard to support them when they don’t seem to really care about making their flights safe for their passengers this airline is infamous for having long lines of customers complaining, from all these maintenance issues to the time a United passenger was beat up and dragged off the plane unconscious for refusing to give up the seat he paid for to United airlines employees when the airline made a mistake and needed to send some people on a fully booked flight. Dunno about you but I prefer airlines where they don’t treat my physical safety like a game of hit and miss.
Boeing is under the line of fire with the incidents this year. However....I am surprised these incidents are only involving US carriers. So, is it a Boeing problem or a lack of US carriers maintencance?
land of Layoffs and management bonuses starting to take its toll.
In all of these cases it looks like maintenance issues and one down to pilot error.
